- We have participated at different seminars in Poland, Belgium, Sweden, Turkey, Italy and the UK by taking part in the programmes and preparatory visits under COMENIUS.
- We have established contacts with Alice Salomon Fachhochschule in Berlin, Germany. Students from this school of tertiary education continue their training at our kindergarten. That motivates our children to speak to our guests in German and English and opens up opportunities for finding out more about these countries and their particular characteristics. This is another excellent possibility for understanding the motto of the European Union “United in Diversity” and developing open-mindedness.
In 2010-2011 students of Kajaani Department of Oulu University Minna Laitinen, Marjut Väisäänen, Riika Saaralainen, Johanna Kärki and Soile Sarkkinen carried out a narrative learning project at Saulės gojus. The method of narrative learning is the result of theoretical and practical work of scientists of different fields. This pilot method of teaching has been used for ten years at a number of Finnish nurseries and primary schools. The group of scientists directed by Professor Dr. Pentti Hakkarainen and Dr. Milda Brėdikytė have taken the lead in this work, with the students of Kajaani Department of Oulu University learning to implement the method in working with children.
